The current Facebook design is nice, and for the most part it works well. But it does have it’s quirks, and personally, I think it’s starting to get a little stale. I’ve been using Facebook for a while now, and the design has barely changed since I started using it, with a few new things here and there, such as the new Timeline feature that was implemented last year. Otherwise, the design has stayed the same for quite sometime now. The one thing that the current design has going for it, is it’s very simplistic., which makes it easy to use, for the most part. But it does trail behind other social networks, such as Google Plus in terms of design, and could really benefit from a redesign.
Fred Nerby has come up with his own design concept for the large social network and I’ve taken a look at the video and photos of the concept design, and all I can say is wow. Its amazing. From what I seen, it looks very similar to a Windows 8 app in terms of design.
Nerby has redesigned most of the main pages throughout the website, such as the login screen, profile’s and fan pages. Below are a few photos of the concept design. If Facebook ever implemented a design like this one, I’d actually want to use Facebook more. A design like this one could really benefit users, assuming half of them don’t complain about a redesign.
