Pangu Jailbreak iOS 8.0/8.1.x Tutorial

When iOS 7 was launched last year the jailbreak community had to wait a few months until they got the chance to receive a working jailbreak. But this year when iOS 8 was launched developers of Pangu caught us by surprise by releasing their jailbreak version for iOS 8.1.

There are some downsides to this tool, first is that this tool is made for Windows, so you will need a virtual machine in order to run this on your Mac. The second downside is that Pangu is in Mandarin/Chinese but if you follow these steps from this how to tutorial you will have a jailbroken device in no time. Before we start you should know that Pangu 1.0.1 tool will no install Cydia, it’s not bundled with Pangu. This tool will jailbreak iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus or any other device that runs on iOS 8.x.

Let’s dig in

  1. We need to disable Find My iPhone, you can do this by going into Settings > iCloud > Find My iPhone.
  2. Now we must disable Passcode Lock, you can achieve this by going to Settings > Passcode.
  3. Since this tool is a windows jailbreaking tool we will need iTunes for windows. If you haven’t downloaded yet now is the right time to do this. After the installation is complete make sure that your device is recognized by iTunes and PC.
  4. Right about now we need to download the most important part, Pangu tool.
  5. To avoid any problems running this app I suggest right clicking on Pangu tool and select Run as administrator and then click Yes.
  6. After you have opened the jailbreak wait for your device to be recognized. You will see a text in the Pangu window with the name of your device and version.
  7. Even though it’s in Chinese try finding a check box and uncheck it if it’s checked. This will prevent installation of unwanted packages bundled with the tool.
  8. Now click the blue button which should be Jailbreak button.

The jailbreak process will not last long and eventually your device will reboot. You will know that your device is jailbroken if you see the Pangu icon in your SpringBoard, but don’t forget this will not install Cydia on your device so for that you will need to manually download and install Cydia.

Semi untethered jailbreak iOS 7.1.1 for iPhone 4

I know that some of you are eager to upgrade and jailbreak the latest iOS version, 7.1.1. But sadly only some of us can benefit from this, mainly because what I am going to present you is a jailbreak that will give you not tethered or untethered jailbreak but something in between. It is a semi untethered jailbreak only for a specific segment of the iDevice world, to be more exact this iOS 7.1.1 jailbreak is only for now for iPhone 4. This jailbreak tool is called GeekSn0w. Just like any previous tools this is quite easy to use but if you have second thoughts you can follow step by step this complete guide.geeksn0w_v2.9

Step 1. In order to run GeekSn0w we will need to download and install some software like .NET Framework from Microsoft, JRE and JDK both the x86 versions.

Step 2. After installing the much needed software download GeekSn0w, before doing this some antivirus software may interfere with our process so in order to avoid any future problems it is best to deactivate your antivirus and firewall software.

Step 3. Run GeekSn0w with administrator privileges.

Step 4. Connect your iPhone using your USB data cable. If you don’t know what iPhone you have you should know that A1349 is iPhone 4 (CDMA model) and A1332 is iPhone 4 (GSM model). After connecting your phone hit the Jailbreak button in GeekSn0w.

Step 5. Now enter in DFU mode by pressing Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds where after this release the power button and continue pressing the Home button for another 10 seconds.  On your iPhone there is no visual suggestion that you are in DFU mode, just a blank screen, but you will see in GeekSn0w that the jailbreaking procedure has started.

Step 6. Beside the message from the GeekSn0w that will flash on your screen after 1 minute you will see on your iPhone 4 the Apple logo. After another 1 minute you will see the recovery mode on your device and GeekSn0w will advise you to enter DFU mode. Follow again Step 5 to enter DFU so that the tool will continue with the jailbreaking procedure. You will see on your device the Apple logo again and then some text scrolling and then back at the Apple logo.

Step 7. Right about now you will have your iPhone booted. Unlock your screen and keep your device connected because the procedure did not finish. It will stay in the iOS for 2 minutes until it will reboot into recovery mode.  In this time your device will download cydia.

Step 8. Once in recovery mode we need to get back in DFU mode by doing again Step 5. You will see that GeekSn0w continues the process.

Step 9. The screen will show again the scrolling text. This is a good sign because you will know that your iPhone is semi tethered again.

Step 10. Right now you should have a jailbroken iOS 7.1.1 and you can safely disconnect the USB data cable.
